“The outpouring of the Spirit brings with it the sense of the future, and a church without a future is a depleted entity. A church that does not anticipate the consummation of the age has lost its identity as the church. Therefore, when we do not have that future because we do not have the Spirit, we stagnate at the level of conventional and predictable church life, nothing more than a succession of Sunday services. The evidence of that can be most pointedly seen in our children who are bored with church life, and we often have to drag them by the scruff of the neck to our functions. They would not be sitting in our congregations waiting for the thing to end, nor would they be drawn off and attracted to other questionable amusements, if we were living in the context of an end. The general character of our meetings is a terrible indictment against us because we have not raised up for our own children a standard and quality of life that compels their attention and their participation. We have not persuaded our children that what we are about is earnest and authentic. Though they may not articulate it, we are to them no more than some kind of adult Sunday culture.”
Many Christians this week are praying to God for their candidate to win the Nov. 4th election. Iran and it’s president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad are also praying to their god “Allah” for Barack Obama to win the presidency. It is widely known that Ahmadinejad not only denies Israel’s right to exist, but has also denied the holocaust that killed over 6 million Jews and in a speech made in 2005 he states “the occupying regime must vanish from the pages of time”. To translate that last statement into American English “Israel must be wiped of the map.” It is rumored that Iran has been itching to attack Israel and that they even have a nuclear program in hopes to soon have a nuke that they can use against their enemies. So….what has been stopping them from just blasting Israel? The answer is “George Bush” a republican president who has pledged support to Israel. What happens to Israel and ultimately to the world if Barack Obama is elected president? Will he sit down with Ahmadinejad and ask him nicely to leave Israel alone? In recent news the Republicans and some news organizations pointed out that a man named Rashid Khalidi had actually held a fund raiser for Barack Obama. Khalidi is a Columbia University professor and is a harsh critic of Israel, he has made statements supportive of Palestinian terror and reportedly has worked on behalf of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) while it was involved in anti-Western terrorism and was labeled by the State Department as a terror group. Also the LA Times has in its possession a video of a banquet where Obama toast Khalidi and calls him his friend. Although Obama is saying that he is pro-Israel his associations would indicate otherwise.
If Obama is elected, Israel will have a three month window of time from November 4th to the day of inauguration to do a preemptive strike on Iran. If they do that while Bush is still in office perhaps America will be able to send them troops and weapons to help them defeat Iran. However if they wait to strike they are risking too much, Obama will come into office Iran will attack them and they will have no allies to help defend themselves against Iran and the Muslim nations that want to see them annhialated.
Zechariah 14:2-4 (NASB)
2 For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city will be captured, the houses plundered, the women ravished and half of the city exiled, but the rest of the people will not be cut off from the city.
3 Then the Lord will go forth and fight against those nations, as when He fights on a day of battle.
4 In that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be split in its middle from east to west by a very large valley, so that half of the mountain will move toward the north and the other half toward the south.
